About the city of Cologne
The city of Cologne is strongly committed to the issue of diversity. We at Allround Team GmbH have already been able to work with the city on diversity campaigns, including this one. On the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, the city of Cologne, in cooperation with the Cologne public prosecutor’s office, the Cologne police, the Kölner Aidshilfe e.V., rubicon e.V., Cologne Pride e.V. and other organizations from the Cologne LGBTI communities, planned a poster and web campaign to increase the willingness to advertise in homophobic and transphobic violence.
Collaboration & Strategy
The challenge was not only to create awareness for queer and transphobia within Cologne, but also to design the campaign in such a way that Cologne residents feel addressed and welcomed – and in the best case, for an even more open and safe one environment for all people, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
In close collaboration with the organizations involved, we developed a comprehensive concept to overcome these challenges and meet our wishes and requirements for the campaign. The focus was on encouraging those affected and witnesses to report or report anti-queer hate crimes, as well as encouraging urban society to take a position against anti-queer sentiment.
To achieve this, we took over project coordination and management. We set up a website for advertising and filled it with information materials, developed claims, designed poster motifs and carried out agreements and printing. Our focus was on conveying the message clearly and clearly without polarizing or stigmatizing.
The result
The four poster motifs from the campaign “Display instead of endure – together against queer hostility” were hung all over Cologne and attracted a lot of attention. Thanks to the broad support of the organizations involved and the city society, we were able to raise awareness of the issue and strengthen the willingness to report homophobic and transphobic violence. This campaign was an important step towards a more inclusive society.
